Ok, you evil genius, now you must start another thread explaining the USA Today box!

A damn fine job, and dressed as Michael Jackson to boot!

And don’t worry.
None of us well report you to the police for stealing newspaper stands.
(Especially now that we’ve seen what you can do with a SawzAll!)

> This is the first cool thing about freon. When it comes out of the compressor it’s a gas, but it turns to liquid almost immediately. When I got there a day or two later, nothing was left of the fridge, but they showed me the black oil-spot stains where the freon had dripped all over the ground, and then they
> showed me the drops of freon still clinging to the walls and counters in the basement.

Acually, Freon is in gas form at atmospheric pressure. The liquid you saw is the compressor oil. Normally, it’s finely and evenly dispersed through the entire system in a very fine mist so the compressor stays lubricated. Once the Freon became depressurized, it returned to its gas form, and the oil was left behind.

Compressor oil is kinda odd - it’s not just plain old 3-in-1 or automotive motor oil. It’s special stuff that won’t interact with the refrigerant - using the wrong kind of oil will result in sludge, no lubrication and a compressor domed to failure pretty soon.
But as far as this thread is concerned… WOW! We’ve had buttered and salted goats, cunts and wenches. All I have to say to that is Par-TAY!

Thats funny. Mrs. Lizardo predicted that people would ask about that! The short story is: when USA Today was first published in the mid-eighties, their vending machines were a radical departure from the standard design. I must have been smoking a lot of dope back then, because I apparently waxed positively rhapsodic about their essential coolness. Knowing the quickest way to my heart, my friends aquired the box and gave it to me as a birthday present back in 1985, with a little bow on. I still have the newspaper that was in it, too.

Great job. A few years ago Milwaukee had a contest to see who could cut a bus in half the fastest…you would have enjoyed it.

Wait ! put a freezer beside the fridge and every day take a large block of ice from the freezer and put it in the fridge. Then you have a functional ice box. Or am I too late ?
