Assault charges or not. Anyone that said they wanted to have sex with my underage daughter and would punch her in the face would get a prompt throttling. But then I wouldn’t be hanging around with people who have said in the past they punch women in the face who upset them. My sister dated an asshole like that. The fucker was lucky I never told my Irish father what was really going on. ---

For all the talk about smacking the buffoon or calling the cops–or even ending the friendship sooner–one thing I note in the tale is a lack of information that the buffoon has ever done anything but talk big. I suspect that most of us have known a blowhard with whom we could associate, ignoring that aspect of his personality. If the guy is not actually following through on his claims to hit people, (and is not actively pursuing sex with underage girls), then I see most of those reactions as overreaction. I might or might not continue a friendship with a blowhared, but I would not condemn someone else who happened to overlook that aspect of his personality. Since the idiot made his own bad choices, (telling a man that one wants to screw his daughter or that one would hit his daughter is generally considered a bad choice), thus ending the friendship, I would say that the matter is closed and no further actions are required. ---
