This show has sucked lately. I had it playing on my computer but I probably watched about 10% of it. The rest of the time, I was surfing the web. Such a shame, I used to love this show. ---

Especially since this was the very first contact between the two universes. Then again, I’m digging the Walternate-as-Big-Bad theory, so I’ll let them slide on this nitpick. Maybe shape-shifters didn’t exist yet or something. ---

It was never a great show. I’ve always found the goofy science to be distracting. More so than the goofy science on every other science fiction show, for some reason. But the characters are engaging and the premise is interesting, so I’ve been coming back. To me, the overall quality of the show seems to be about the same as from the beginning. _Entertainment Weekly_ says that the ratings were down 20 percent for the second season, but attributes that to the move to Thursday night. ---

This episode was great, especially as a big focus on the main story. It feels like this season doesn’t tie as many of the story-of-the-week to the main arc like season 1 did. ---

I’ve been wondering about “Walternate” being behind everything since before this episode. When I missed the episode I looked up a recap, and I forget what site it was on, it suggested that alternate Walter’s wife might be behind things. I’m watching on HULU right now so I guess I’ll see for myself. As for sucking or not, my only complaint is that there’s been too many filler episodes. I know there will be a filler episode or two in any series with with a long story arc but it just feels to me that there have too many for this show. Especially considering there’s been a couple of times where episodes are weeks or a month or so apart. ---

I record it, actually. I prefer watching Supernatural “live”. ---

I thought it was very interesting to see how John Noble portrayed the younger, not-insane, Walter. You don’t often get to see an actor do two different interpretations of the same character. ---

Emotionally he’s worse off, but I haven’t noticed any break from reality for him. And **Mahaloth** , thanks for mentioning the DVDs. I forgot about that. What really bothered me about this episode’s science was, you are opening a door to another universe for the first time, using a powerful machine and dealing with great energies, so the obvious place to try this in on a frozen lake!? A frozen lake where the ice appears to be about 4 inches thick when they fall through. And then Walter and Peter fall through so they can be saved by the Watcher. Does the machine fall through? Nope. ---

**I loved LOVED the 1980s graphic open.** I also loved how they had the words of ““psuedo science”” for back then, among them, laser surgery, and other “hoverboard” type ““future”” promises. IMHO, the 1980 take on it, kinda played into it being April Fools. I mean, it’s you know, different, and the people put effort into making something not as expected. [[Hopefully you understand me, Yes Fringe is all fake to begin with, and yes the plot is always not “Expected”. I just mean to say, they picked a good night to air this episode.]] AlterWalter V Walterternate … My god, are we going to have HNG, and Doppelskanker and others? I probably need to see the episode again, but I think it was slow moving and very predictable. There was a point A and a point B and everyone knew the show had to get to the given conclusion. Not a regular Fringe show in terms of plot, but needed, none the less. ---

I thought it was a pretty good episode. I just hope the next few episodes go a little bit deeper into the story line and maybe we learn a little bit more about alter-Walter. Like, did he end up institutionalized too? Well, probably not, but I still want to learn more about him. After his brain operation and institutionalization this universe’s Walter seems to be a better person morally. Assuming that these things didn’t happen to alternate Walter we can probably assume that he doesn’t share any of the good and decent qualities that our Walter now has. In fact, I’m guessing that since our Walter grew kinder and gentler, then probably their Walter probably went in the other direction; spurred on no doubt, by the kidnapping of his son. ---
