**No Clue Boy** ran a _scientific_ experiment to prove this theory. He held a quarter up to the Moon. They are the same size. What more do you need? ---

Oh man, I am bawling my eyes out here. They just showed Apollo 8 comin’ round the Moon and with Earth rising. So beautiful! I’m sorry to keep bringing up this thread again. But I have no one with me to share this with. I won’t do it again, unless responded to. Is no one else watching this? ---

I have the entire series on DVD and I watch it constantly. My favorite is #5, “Spider,” where they build the LEM that’s going to be the first to land on the moon. Brilliant, brilliant television, that. ---

Yep, I’m watching it now, and had it on last night and the night before too. I watched all the DVDs when they first came out too. **Spider** is probably my favorite, along with the episode about Apollo 12. ---

This is only episode 5 and they have already shown two scenes where a washer is floating around free in zero gee. What the hell is wrong with these people they can’t get all the washers bolted down in place? 😛 ---

I have the DVDs, and can watch it anytime I want to. Nyah nyah! Seriously, they were a Christmas present last year (I asked for 'em) and it’s great. The only bad part is that I don’t remember ANY of it since I wasn’t born until 1976. I am a second-generation manned spaceflight geek. Thanks, Mom! (She was one of the apparent few who watched anything she could of the later moon flights as well as Apollo 11.) ---

Thanks, but I watched the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo missions in real time, back in the 1960s and early 70s. I also watched the unmanned Ranger and Surveyor programs unfold. In the 1960s, we made sure the Soviet Union didn’t dominate outer space. I’m trying to think of any other major goals achieved by manned space missions, but I’m drawing a blank. I have no objection to private manned spaceflight, and that seems to be making progress, as yesterday’s successful X-Prize flight demonstrated. I’m all for rich tourists’ money being the driver of further progress in manned spaceflight. But I don’t see any significant governmental purpose being served by manned missions.
