From ending birthright citizenship (14th Amendment) to criminalizing protests (First Amendment), freezing federal spending to dismantling federal agencies (both Article 1), he’s been undeterred by such restrictions on his power. I think someone from the Trump family (Donald, Donald Jr, or maybe Lara) will be a strong contender on GOP primary ballots. As to how that impacts who should be considered the Democratic frontrunners, it is hard to say, mostly because it is hard say who are the Democratic frontrunners regardless. If polls show MAGA still seems to have a chance of victory, in early 2028, most Democratic primary voters will drink their castor oil and go with a moderate (my current favorite is Reuben Gallego). But if the GOP is tanking in the polls, they’ll go with their heart and make a more progressive pick. ---

Agree with all you say! The point, however, is that any GOP success right now comes down to Trump. And failure comes down to Trump. It’s all Trump, all the time. They are not even _trying_ to be a real political party, so while discussing the flaws of the Dems is fine, it has to be put in that context. ---

Yeah, TSLA’s in some real peril right now, which is odd given the surge after November 5. In 7 weeks Musk has manage to inflict permanent damage to his brand. I don’t recall anything like this. ---
