Frozen Brussels Sprouts Instructions

Frozen Brussels sprouts are virtually a different vegetable from fresh ones. And fresh ones are more fun to prepare. I don’t know why anyone would prefer frozen.

It’s actually a general brassica aversion, but yes.

Nice, thanks. I had never heard of it.

Yeah, if they’re frozen. Brussels sprouts are not meant to be boiled or steamed; they are wonderful when roasted with carrots and olive oil.

You mean shredded with a mandoline slicer and then sautéed with olive oil, bacon, and pine nuts, right?

Oh, grasshopper…

I wouldn’t recommend using a mandoline to slice Brussels sprouts, no way. A food processor, or even just a nice sharp kitchen knife, would be safer.

They also make a nice slaw. I slice them thin with a chef’s knife, and they shred just fine. They’re also really nice cooked up simply with some Italian sausage and a bit of olive oil and served with some orecchiette or whatever pasta you find appropriate.
