Fruit flies seem to come out of nowhere

I cannot keep bananas in my home.

Every few years I think “I should get some bananas. I love them and I can have one with my breakfast”. So I buy half a dozen at various stages of ripeness so that I can eat them throughout the week. Then a few days later the cloud of fruit flies in my kitchen reminds me of why I stopped buying bananas.

I just went through this again last week. I’m still killing flies.

There’s a stand I pass walking from the train station to work every morning. I think what I’ll do is buy one banana there each morning and eat it at work.

Why aren’t fruit stands and supermarket produce sections full of flies? What’s different about my kitchen?

I took it to mean that he/she was assigned a prison work detail sometime in the year 1908…

Like they say: Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.
