It seems like the easiest way to measure Fruit Loop volume would be to empty the bag they come in into the box they come in. Then measure how high up the box it filled, and multiple by the size of the bottom. Then you just have to count how many are in a box and you’re set. Simple!
I had a friend who used to work at a radio station that sponsored a contest like this. I came up with the basic idea that guy had. I didn’t enter the contest (which involved ping pong balls in a Toyota or some sort), but I told my friend about the method of guessing. My friend thought is was good, but he said, “The contest isn’t about how many ping pong balls WILL fit in the car. It’s about many are IN THIS CAR.” He hinted that they may have placed empty boxes in the floor boards to take up room that would have taken up by balls.

But this gives you Vipers per Loop, which will be an extremely small fraction, and hard to visualize. What we want is Loops per Viper.
