To be fair, Covid is a just Chinese bio-weapon that’s no worse than the flu and all those folks in the hospital in Texas on ventilators are just getting the government to breathe for them on the tax payers dime. ---

Optics alert! Optics alert! This is the event that Abott attended last night in Texas northeast of Dallas. While vaccination rates are high in the elderly, there are hold-outs among TX Republicans. This event had hundreds of people jam-packed into the Republican Heritage Club House. So let’s go over my list, shall we? 1. Vaccination status - unknown and lots of old people. 2. Venue - not only inside, but packed. Abbott is in the center, chatting away amongst the crowd. 3. Mask indoors? - Of course, not! 4. Testing? - well, probably only Abbott but got the positive a day later. You’re contagious before your test is even positive. There’s no problem with the optics around Abbott because his behavior is totally consistent with his message and that of his party: The virus is no big deal, masks are optional, and sacrifices are for suckers. Having a large, indoor, crowded, maskless event with no vaccination checks or contact tracking is exactly what Abbott and the right are encouraging everyone to do. That’s not the case with the left. Their message is to take this seriously, mask up, and make sacrifices. Throwing a big, fun wing-ding birthday party is not really consistent with the Democrat’s message. Technically it may have been safe from a CDC perspective, but it’s not consistent with the spirit of the left’s messaging around the virus. ---
