FTL signals and Sabine Hossenfelder

Hossenfelder yesterday on Twitter: Scientists would speak out on the existence of UFOs, but they are afraid to.

This finding is patently absurd. The ancient Palomar plates from the 1950s show a lot of fake stars, which Bea Villaroel suggests are orbiting satellites that were put there by aliens, then removed in 1957 as soon as the first Sputnik went up. Not to mention that these ‘satellites’ would show up as streaks if they reflected light for more than a fraction of a second. The Palomar plates are covered in false ‘stars’ caused by flaws in the photographic emulsion; at least 100,000 such flaws have been detected and eliminated from the database, which suggests very strongly that most or all of the remaining ‘satellites’ are flaws too.
