Bricker, in this and the other threads on this subject, is simply doing what _Diogenes the Cynic_ got flack for. He loves the baby Jesus, and will disingenuously bat his eyelashes to protect His honor heedless of facts, reality, and common sense. ---

When I wrote that thread, I was confused and didn’t quite know what was going on. I thought her mother had implied that she was 14 or 15 (if I had thought she was under 16, or mentally handicapped, I wouldn’t have done it!); it turns out she wasn’t. But thank you for the apology anyways. It would be hella nice if this whole “BPC raped an underaged retard” thing died. ---

Plus if the situation was that fucked up you should have just walked away or waited. Screaming, _“she was 16 not 15!!!”_ just doesn’t make it that much better from a moral standpoint, imo. ---

In many circles, the difference between 2 years and 3 years in high school is considered meaningful. In many states, the difference between 15 and 16 is that one is legal and one is not for those who are 18. ---

I am somehow reminded of one of my Christian neighbors who imagines she is severely put upon because her kids nearly always have off Rosh Ha’Shanah and Yom Kippur but not always Holy Thursday. I was pleased to be free of her complaining last year when the high holy days fell on weekends. The older I get the more I think I just want a secular society where religious customs are treated as just religious customs and nothing more. FYI, my daughter has a half day for both days of Passover this week but no school on Holy Thursday. This is due to the need to make up for multiple unexpected snow days. The school superintendent had no trouble forcing Jews in our neighborhood to accept less than full days off rather than extend the school year. I imagine said neighbor will still find some way to whine. Because in her world it is fair that she gets off Christmas without bothering to ask for it and even more fair that most Jews have to take off Yom Kippur as part of their vacation time. Because her religion deserves a place in the public square that should obviously never be accorded to other beliefs. I have unfortunately encountered similar sentiments from a fair number of Christians over the years. At one point five of six people in our division were Jews who took off Yom Kippur. Our Christian co-worker spend much of the time upon our return complaining about it. ---
