Apparently Iranian state media is claiming destruction of an American military base, and near destruction of Israel. Or similar fantasy nonsense. All for internal politics. Does that make any warmongers consider that maybe Iranian calls for the destruction of Israel (and the US, for that matter) are mostly just bluster for internal purposes, rather than a real existential threat? ---

One way to look at it is that we’ve got some real world performance data on our bunker busters now, and if/when it does actually become necessary to destroy a real nuclear bunker (not this performative Trump business), we’ll be better equipped to do so. ---

Iran is not just blustering. They have been HUGE supporters of Hamas and Hezbollah and Houthis and (I think) PIJ. They are putting a lot of money where their mouth is to kill people. Some of it is real - they do support terrorists. But you’d have us cling to the bullshit lies of Netanyahu - thirty years of lies. And now Trump lies. I don’t buy it. Iranian leaders are evil and support terror. That doesn’t mean they are ready and willing to commit suicide, no matter what Netanyahu says about it. They were willing to stick to the JCPOA while it was active - that’s pretty good evidence that they have some motivations higher than “must kill all Jews” .
