Of course Whack-a-Mole’s imagine Iran is a neighbor schtick is missing one vital element. Imagine your neighbor is in an abusive relationship and gets divorced then remarried. But the other neighbors in the HOA don’t like that because it lowers property values. So you use your power to force that neighbor to leave their new partner and go back into an abusive relationship. This goes on for some time until the neighbor snaps and forcibly ejects their abusive partner then remarries again, this time to the violent lunatic who helped them throw out their abusive partner. And now everyone in the HOA is pissing and moaning that the house is full of religious nuts and they just don’t understand why anybody would marry that guy etc. The US fucked Iran over hard because a bunch of British Oligarchs might have lost some oil money. Millions of Iranians have suffered and died as a direct result of US action and all they get is ignorant morons complaining that Iran has always been evil and somebody should do something about it. If you dont what repressive theocratic regimes to hate your guts they maybe don’t go around making repressive theocratic regimes with good reason to hate your guts. ---

The hubris is both breathtaking and infuriating to behold. How can anyone possibly be so confident that this time they’ll avoid all the terrible mistakes and unintended consequences of war for the past half century or so? I know the answer for Trump is that he doesn’t care and doesn’t think about long term consequences anyway, but what about everyone else supporting this? And with Trump and Netanyahu in charge?
