His personal physician was Jewish, he permitted construction of synagogues and he continued his father’s policies of welcoming Sephardic refugees (as did his son Suleiman afterwards). While one can speak of Jewish massacres in the Ottoman empire, they were not usually engendered by Ottoman authorities per se. Rather they tended to be episodes of mob violence, that accelerated in the 19th century as the state began to totter and more virulent antisemitism began to be imported from Europe (usually starting with the poor Christian underclass, then spreading to the poor Muslim, particularly Arab underclasses). The rise of ethnic nationalism, another European import, also served to ratchet up tensions and eroded the Ottoman state’s previously cosmopolitan nature. ---

In addition to that earlier in the thread I cited Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, a number of genocide scholars, the UN Special Committee, all of whom have independently examined the evidence and issued either reports or statements that all reach the same conclusion: Israel are committing genocide in Gaza.
