I used to like it, but after 20+ years in marketing, I have finally understood why. I am working on promotions and events January thru March of next year. Christmas is wayyyy past for meā€“those promotions were set in August. ---

Not the same since parents passed and family fell apart. Now its just something I need to get thru instead on something to be enjoyed. Never liked it all that much before now its just something I put up with. Sorry to be a downer. ---

Traveling across country once again at the worst time to travel. UGH! Why canā€™t we make the holidays alphabetical? I mean, if your last name ends in A-C, thatā€™s January, D-F, February. That would put the Locrians around June. Take four or five days off for each holiday trip you like. The stores would love it, airlines would have less slow seasons, and xmas tree lots would have a yeaer round business. ---

I couldnā€™t wait to hunt down the perfect gifts, to wrap them, to decorate. I loved cooking big holiday dinners and seeing the reactions to the gifts I had bought. But now I find myself alone since my dad died, and no local friends. I have a couple friends scattered out across the country, but even buying for them holds no appeal. I donā€™t get to see them open the gifts, I donā€™t know if they genuinely LIKE them, and every year I get more and more ā€˜mehā€™ about the whole thing. The radio stations I favor start playing nthing but Xmas music 24/7 on the weekends after Thaksgiving. There is a good chance Iā€™m not going to get a single day off work for either Christmas or New Yearā€™s. I thought this year might be different; after I started volunteering at the horse rescue, I was making new friends. I had found a horse there that I adored and was trying to adopt. But my ā€˜friendsā€™ turned agaist me thanks to the lies told about me by one of the boarders there and ā€˜myā€™ horse was sold. I am more alone now than I was before, my heart breaking every day.
