Seems to me that, if you’re going to campaign on how strongly you support family values, then pointing out that you were unable to successfully instill those values in your own children is fair game. That said, it’s still pretty poor form to make a minor child the butt of your joke. So it’s a good thing that’s clearly not what happened here. Here’s a good rule of thumb for determining which person a joke is about: if a person is mentioned by name in the joke, it’s probably about that person. Letterman’s joke mentioned two people: Sarah Palin, and Alex Rodriguez. I’m not sure why Rodriguez was name checked for this joke. I don’t follow sports, so I assume he’s been involved in some sort of sex scandal, or has a reputation for sleeping with young women, or something. And Palin, of course, has the whole aforementioned family values failure thing going for her. Her daughter, on the other hand, isn’t mentioned at all. The joke would have worked just as well if Palin had gone to the game alone. That having been dispensed with, I’d be interested in seeing the OP come back and defend his use of the word “misogynistic” in the thread title. What, precisely, is misogynistic about this joke? What unflattering observations about women does it make? What stereotypes about women does it rely on? Where does it employ a double standard between how men and women are treated? In short, what evidence do you have that you even understand what the word “misogynistic” means? ---

When we were quite little, my overly indulgent parents allowed my sister to name her cats anything she wanted no matter how ridiculous. She picked names at random based on her limited vocabulary, as a little girl might do. We literally had cats named Milk, Greeny, and Cup. (I think Cup and Milk were named at the same time) I’ve always found it hilarious that the Palins adopted a similar approach to their kids. Trick, Brisket, Willow, Trombone. This outrage is utterly ridiculous. Bristol Palin (and that’s clearly who Dave was referring to) has already established herself as an easy skank of a whore who will happily open her vagina to any Alaskan meth addict (or steroid addict – hence the Rodriguez connection?) and that’s all the joke was about. I swear, when people go apeshit like this, it makes me wish this country would lower the AoC to 14 JUST SO PEOPLE WILL STFU AND ACCEPT THE FACT THAT TEENAGERS WILLINGLY HAVE SEX, DAMMIT!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: ---
