Sorry if I don’t live up to your sterling fair standards. The exorcism thing doesn’t bother me. It doesn’t even bother me that Bobby Jindal, a Republican, has been involved in one. It’s fairly rare and the church tends to keep them quiet exactly because it’s considered kind of old-fashioned and, well, crazy. Palin’s church celebrates men like [Thomas Muthee](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Muthee), who hounded an old woman out of her home and her town for being a “witch” (or perhaps didn’t and only claimed he did). People like Muthee are direct and personal enemies of secularists. If people like Muthee and Palin “win”, then secularists, atheists, and mainstream Christians lose. These people consider themselves at war with the insufficiently Christian. I personally think three presidents who gave lip service or more to Creationists, Dominionists, and just plain insane religionists are more than enough. ---

She attends another church across town which is just called a “Bible church”. Her bio lists her as a non-denominational Christian. It is true that she was a Pentacostal until 2002 - but I was a Methodist until about that time. I sure can’t be considered one now. ---

By the way, Letterman is, wisely, backing off of his, ahem, “joke.” At tonight’s taping, he apparently “clarified” what he meant without actually apologizing. It’s likely that Letterman’s writers were too dim to understand that Palin brought her 14-year-old daughter, Willow, to the game in question; not the older Bristol. From the LA Times: _Excerpts from “The Late Show with David Letterman” June 10, 2009: “We were, as we often do, making jokes about people in the news and we made some jokes about Sarah Palin and her daughter, the 18-year-old girl, who is – her name is Bristol, that’s right, and so, then, now they’re upset with me…” “These are not jokes made about her 14-year-old daughter. I would never, never make jokes about raping or having sex of any description with a 14-year-old girl. I mean, look at my record. It has never happened. I don’t think it’s funny. David Letterman used to make jokes about Michael Jackson and Catholic priests all the time. He shouldn’t have apologized, though. It was a silly joke that only a few blow-hard Republicans misinterpreted (would there have been any outrage if Sarah Palin wasn’t Republican? I think not!) and it sets a bad precedent for the future. But, whatever…Letterman hasn’t been relevant for years anyway. :rolleyes: ---
