For all of you who were not already aware, **Disney animators SUCK**. All of the goodness that Walt Disney created and inspired somehow went down the tube after he died. When I say **DISNEY SUCKS** , I am in no way referring to the wonderful animations that they created in the days long past. It is only with recent Disney(sucks) animations did they qualify themselves as plagiarising assholes. You get Goofy to defend you. Then, when you’re found guilty, you’re sentence is to spend 10 years as ‘third bear on the right’ at Bear Country Jamboree. Central Powersource, advanced, long lived race that met an untimely demise when they let their egos override their commonsense Anyone that uses those for anything _except_ Atlantis are ripping off and plagerizing Edgar Cayce, are they not? Including your precious Anime-\*which, based on the ones I’ve seen, haven’t got an origional storyline among them that’s worth a shit. OK I looked at your links. The animation clearly does not suck. Every Disney picture had equal or superior quality to the anime it was compared with. As for the charge of plagerism, if its true let them sue. If not, shut up. Disney makes adaptations of stories, its all they ever did. If two adaptations of the same story look similar, well, duh. ---

Verrain, the basis of my flame was clearly the plagiarizing of _Nadia_ by Disney. I could give a fuck whether the the illustration sucks or not, cause that’s definitely not the point. The point is how similar the characters were to one another in physical appearance. In the four years it took to make the damn thing, Disney couldn’t at least have been original in the that at least. So they made the girl a blonde, and they made the kid older, but they got real lazy with the black guy, the blonde woman, and the mustache guy, didn’t they? But heck, who knows? Maybe it was authorized. If it ain’t broke, dont fix it. My ass. ---

And my basis of refuting your flame, is that when two people make adaptations of similar legends and stories its a big no brainer, duh, that the characters end up looking alike. Let me ask you this, **wishbone**. Has there been any word from the people who made Nadia about all this? That’s the group of people who should be making a fuss about all this, and I haven’t seen anything that indicates they are. ---

Look: first, the blond chick. Animators have four colors to choose: blond, brunette, red, and black. I’m guessing they already had three of the four, so they made the captain blonde. Mustache Guy: Yes, of course the fact that they have goofy mustaches means that they’re the same animation. Have you seen the commercials? The mustache guy is a goofy, comic-relief character. Hence, goofy facial hair. And the black guy. :rolleyes: (sidenote: I think this is the first black leading character Disney has already employed). The fact that he’s black could mean that he’s copied off of OJ, for chrissakes. In fact, looking at the pictures, Atlantis’ black character looks more like a football player than the other guy, who looks old and skinny. Get your head out of your ass. No piece of art is completely independent, but just because two pieces of art share design aspects doesn’t mean that one copied the other. ---

Look, pal, there’s a LOT of Anime out there. A HUGE shitload. Most of it, IMOSHO, sucks ass. The few gems in that pile of crap, however, are excellent. But keep in mind with such a large influx of material, Anime has MANY, MANY different characters in their movies. So much so that it’s difficult to NOT find similarities 'tween certain movies. You’re going to have to offer us a bit more evidence than a few similar characters. Hell, almost every single fucking Anime cartoon includes the “nerdy guy with glasses” character. And almost every single fucking Anime cartoon has the “glowing eyes” and “magic jewel” motif. Anime is primarily a cookie-cutter, factory-produced “art” form, without a single shred of originality to it… ---

**Spoofe** just nailed this one on the head. Most anime (Hell, most anyhting) is aimed at the ol’ Lowest Common Denominator. So, for that matter, is everything Disney makes. Rule #1 of LCD? Originality is scary. If it worked once, it’ll work another five million times. Complaining about “plagiarism” in animated movies is like complaining about plagiarism in American sit-coms. “Hey, this is just like _Friends!_ There’s a dumb blonde, and a sarcastic gay guy, and a tight-assed boss, and a wacky neighbor, and…” Not that this isn’t a topic worthy of complaint, but don’t go pretending that Disney is the crass huckster stealing from the pure-hearted anime artists. The reason you don’t hear the makers of _Nadia_ or _Kimba, the White Lion_ complaining about being robbed by Disney is because they’ve done the same thing themselves. It’s the way the industry works. PS: One sentence summary of 95% of all anime: Multi-tentacled monster blows up city. PPS: For the record, _Atlantis_ is the first Disney movie I’ve enjoyed in years. It’s not perfect, a little too cute at times, but on the plus side there are no songs and no talking animals. Plus, some things blow up real good. So all and all, an enjoyable flick. ---

That’s what Disney does-- they base their popular feature films on classic tales that resound in our existing cultural fabric.
