[Boston’s Emerson college is renaming it’s communication school the Ron Burgundy School of Communication for one day](http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_PEOPLE_RON_BURGUNDY?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2013-11-18-11-33-56), apparently in the mistaken belief that shilling for cash (and trolling for press) by helping a shitty sequel movie promotion is what institutes of higher learning should be doing. It isn’t. To the people at Emerson College who made this decision, I would like to say: fuck you, whores. To the people who conceived of this, including Judd Apatow and Paramount Pictures: fuck you, assholes. I’m sure to some people it’s very meta, the way that they’re promoting this film, but frankly to me it is just annoying. The first film wasn’t very funny and certainly wasn’t memorable enough to deserve a sequel (but then, that’s true for everything Judd Apatow is involved in, IMO). I hope Emerson College finds itself shorted on alumni donations after this; I know if I was an alumni, I wouldn’t be inclined to contribute. Let them look to their new craven masters in Hollywood’s marketing departments for their funding. Maybe their baseball team can be sponsored by the next _Bad News Bears_ sequel/reboot. Shortsighted greedy money-grubbing fucking whores, the lot of them. ---

Why do you care so much about what Emerson College does or doesn’t do? You say in your OP that you’re not an alumni, so I’m confused as to why you give so many shits. ---

How dare college administrators bring in a comedian to talk to the students and host a free movie screening! I haven’t been this offended since Baskin Robins handed out free ice cream to MIT students back in 1997! It was a sad day when I realized our higher learning institutions are mere whores for the frozen treat / industrial complex. ---

If it gets the college some money/attention and doesn’t hurt anyone what the hell is the issue? Its not like anyone is getting a diploma with Ron Burgundy School of Communication blazoned across the top. If it degrades the school’s reputation and attendance goes down and they go out of business then I guess they reap what they sow, eh? But I bet the chances of that are next to nil. ---

It’s not like one with Emerson on it is all that different. 😉 Hey, it’s a performing-arts school that sends a lot of grads out to the movie industry, among other branches of the entertainment industry, in which it is well-regarded. A cheap advertising stunt is hardly beneath them, and it will probably even do some good. ---

I’m baffled as to what the OP is going on about. Is he trying to claim that renaming something after Ron Burgundy for _one freakin’ day_ is going to somehow result in a generation of J-school graduates capable of nothing but looking intently at the Teleprompter and reciting “Go fuck yourself, San Diego”? Not to mention, given some of his attempts here, the OP’s opinions on what is funny are…suspect, to say the least. _Anchorman_ was hilarious. Fact. Hey, there’s a good chance the sequel is one too many trips to the well, but let’s wait for a couple of reviews, at least, eh? ---

But they have many leather-bound books and their library smells of rich mahogany. BTW, pet peeve: you’re not an _alumnus_. “Alumni” is the plural. “Alumna” if you’re female, and “alumnae” if you’re a group of females. Class dismissed! ---

I wouldn’t worry about Emerson. I went to college in Boston and their student body consisted of idiot hipsters who thought the reason they got the shit kicked out of them in high school was because “people didn’t understand them” when in reality it was that they’re annoying and pretentious as fuck. ---
