Fuck Hamas

Not surprisingly, both sides claim that the other did- Hamas says that Israel didn’t stop the blockade as accorded, Israel that it was doing so when Hamas started launching again.

Recently worked up in Lebanon.

Is Brian Ekers saying he would really go stand in front of the Knesset? If his question as purely hypothetical, then I’d have no problem holding a sign in front of Hamas, as long as he really kept up his end.

I’d be fine.

Is Lebanaon part of Israel?

Is Gaza part of Israel ?

Sort of.

In that case, how about the West Bank?

Not only American lives. At the time, the Japanese government was drilling the general population (men and women) as a militia for a last-ditch defense against an expected Allied invasion of the Home Islands, and since there were not enough rifles to go around, they were drilling with spears. Imagine how that would have played out!

Gandhi was fortunate in his enemies, the Brits being so obsessed with convincing themselves they were doing the right thing. If India had been a German or a Dutch or a French colony, Gandhi would have quietly disappeared early in his career.

Depends on who you ask. The settlers seem to think it’s part of Israel.

Well my point was that previous responses of the like towards Gaza have worked in the West Bank. Its relatively peaceful in that region.

So? Let them think what they want. Israel left Gaza of its own free will, and the vast majority of Israelis are glad we did it.

I’m not surprised to see you repeating the Palestinian canard that Israel still rules Gaza. I just hope you understand the reasoning behind it; namely, that the Palestinians don’t really want independance. Being independant means being responsible for your own actions, and that’s the last thing they want. They’d rather have someone - anyone - other than themselves to blame.

You think so because you’re taking as a truth the following part of your post :

And a lot of people would strongly disagree that this an accurate report of what happened.
An alternate view is :

Extremist Jewish groups deliberately planned a terror campaign so that Palestinians would flee lands that could then be seized.
Another view would be :

Civilians flew in droves a war zone, as civilians usually do, and the victorious side decided to seize the vacant properties rather than letting the legitimate owners come back.

It’s hard to argue that Israel doesn’t rule Gaza when it still controls air, water and borders, and controls access to external resources. Israel may not technically govern Gaza anymore, but they still control it.

Again, what makes you believe that Israel will stay the stronger side forever?

Because the moment we stop being strong, we’re dead. I can assure you that my nation’s conquerors will not be nearly as polite as yours.

You think we want that? Believe me, the moment the Gazan start showing more interest in living their own lives than in ending ours, we’ll leave them the hell alone. Why do you think we left there in the first place?

Maybe you should do more than that. Maybe you should force all Jewish settlers to leave Gaza. Being composed of reasonable human beings, Hamas will surely appreciate this and stop launching attacks from Gaza.

I’ll consider it if you’ll take out a big life insurance policy with me as beneficiary.

(Well, not really, since I have no particular desire to go to Israel, let alone to prove a point)
