What makes you think Israel would give a shit about Palestinian children?
These aren’t fireworks we’re talking about. Shall I commence Googling for Israeli rocket casualties or just declare you wrong out of hand?
Well, they’re the moral equivalent of Israeli children. I read that somewhere.
There’s been only one Israeli casualty from these attacks. That does not justify bombing hundreds of civilians.
That’s correct. They are the same. Now go tell Israel that.
Or do you disagree?
Put me down firmly in the “Fuck Hamas” category. If they had not been firing rockets into Israel, Israel would not be retaliating right now. They’re getting what the deserve and a little belatedly.
Until someone like the settlers comes along, shoots them and takes their land. And the Israelis have done quite a lot to make living in peace as intolerable as they could. Both sides are fond of relentlessly provoking the other until someone gets violent, then using that to excuse violent retaliation. The Israelis push and push; the Palestinians push and push.
Oh, I expect they’d find some other reason. Either on their own or when Hamas tried something else.
If you don’t go squatting on other people’s land, you won’t get shot at.
The Israeli ambassador is sitting down with Yassir Arafat to try to work out a peace agreement. The ambassador asks if he might first tell a story. Arafat tells him to go ahead. The ambassador begins.
“When Moses was in the desert for 40 years, the Jews got very thirsty and Moses asked God for water and there appeared a beautiful lake. The Jews first drank and then bathed themselves. Moses did the same when it was his turn, but when he came out of the water, all his clothes were gone. Moses shouted: ‘Where are my clothes? Who took them?’ The Jews answered: `The Palestinians took them’.”
Arafat quickly objected by saying that there were no Palestinians at that time. The ambassador looks at Arafat and says, “RIGHT!!! NOW we can begin to negotiate.”
Unfortunately, the folks on Hamas’ side seem to have a pretty broad view of what “their land” should mean.
Yeah, like all those settlers who are busy colonizing Gaza right now.
But wait . . . did the Gazans kick them out?
So do the settlers.
Sure, like the ones who are busy shooting Gazans and setting up colonies their.
Or wait . . . did the Gazans kick them out?
The point of this story is what? That Israeli/Palestinian policy should be based on Jewish mythology?
I’d say this is a good time to re-run this website that I bookmarked after it appeared on Weird Earl’s a long time ago. (The wife and I have actually sent pizza to the troops in the past.
)
If by “broad” you mean “legal,” then I agree with you.
By “broad,” I mean all the land everywhere. But particularly all of Israel.
Anyway, it seems you agree with me. If Israel lays down its arms, there will be no more Israel.
No, not “legal”. The international community recognizes the existence of Israel as legitimate. Hamas doesn’t. Hamas claims both the occupied territories and the land that’s internationally recognized as Israeli territory.
Just like most other countries. And ? That doesn’t give them the moral right to kill indiscriminately. Nor does it make it smart.
Israel has the same problem in thinking its enititled to Palesitinian territories.
The same could be said about the Palestinians. There are people in this thread advocating the literal, genocidal extinction of all Palestinian people.
