Since were at it, fuck my shoulders both of em, but especially the left one. I am so sick of reaching over my head and feeling a “crack, pop” that causes me to audibly cry out.
Dances,
Its far more embarrasing when a 100 something pound girl at the lunber yard offers to help.
I blew out my (L) knee many years ago in a skiing accident…I was using a new set of bindings which snapped back on after a fall. Neat feature except my bindings snapped back on just as I rolled down the slope. I heard noises I hope to never hear again.
Since then I have had several arthroscopic surgeries including repair of torn meniscus twice (its a whole lot easier to do when your knee is damaged already) and the other knee because of misuse syndrome. But hey…when I am in a good place with them they work just great so I can’t complain too much.
The best defense is to be proactive. Get really good at doing quad sets and do them all the time. The best way to improve your knee pain is to improve the muscle tone. Basically a quad set tightens the muscles in the top of your thigh. If you are doing them right you will see your patella move upwards. If you have bad knees you gotta start thinking of protecting them for down the road. Running isn’t your sport if you have bad knees…it will only speed up the degenerative process. And do wall squats for your knees instead of regular ones so your knees get a little help and protection.
Also, referencing the tall comments. I’m also tall for a woman…over 5’8 but not quite 5’9" and I think that does make it harder to work with bad knees. And keeping your weight at a NBW makes sense automatically but I was astounded when my othopedist told me that just 1 pound = 4 pounds of knee pressure. So when you do the math that 10 pounds = 40 “knee pounds”
Jeez…I just talked myself into a stiff drink…
