I can’t see how a printed ticket discourages bad parking behavour, nor can I see how it would set off the OP like a cheap firework. Now, if it was printed in small print on label paper and stuck to the windshield so it would leave glue streaks that couldn’t easily be removed by a carwash, I guess I could see it. You know, something that would make poor innocent pick-up truck owner have to take the time out of their day to scrape off and clean? Yeah, I could picture the OP fuming over that alright. ---

People bend and break rules all the time for their own convenience and when it doesn’t seem like a “big deal” to them. On the road this happens all the time. The people who stop at an intersection with their entire vehicle in front of the line. People who can’t be bothered to use turn signals. Etc etc etc. Often, these inconvenience, confuse, and create a more unsafe environment for other drivers. However, as much as I might get pissed off when I see it, _it’s not my fucking job to play nanny to other grownups!_ Who knows what sort of ‘wrong’ things I do that piss off other people; I sure as hell don’t want them telling me what to do. So, I’m totally with the OP (assuming that much of the reaction was hyperbole). It’s not my business to tell you how to park your vehicle. You _ **know** _ how to park. If you’ve chosen to do it in some less-than-optimal-for-your-neighbors way for whatever reason, what’s done is done. And, I can’t stand being left notes on my behavior. I had a roommate once who did this and it immediately evoked anger because it assumes that the note writer is 100% correct, and that the recipient is being reprimanded and there is no room for discussion. Leaving a note on a car is treating the other driver like a child, and is most definitely an insult. Fuck 'em. ---

I argue that the people who do this sort of thing are bigger jerks, because they are \*intentionally \*trying to piss someone off. I do hope they eventually get what is coming to them. The people that take up multiple parking spaces are the type of people that would have cameras on their car. And I can think of several ways to get back at them that would be just as legal as leaving the fake ticket (i.e. not quite). ---

It’s not like I’ve received a ton of them in my life, but what few I have piss me off so bad that now I limit myself to glancing at one to make sure it doesn’t say “your left back tire is flat” or something and, assuming it doesn’t, throwing it in the trash without even reading it. I honestly don’t give a shit about the opinion of someone whose problem is so petty or whose spine is so small that they can’t even be bothered to talk to me personally. Like **Qadgop** said, there’s no reason to let Mr. Anonymous live in your head. Let it go. ---

You are a horrible person. Seriously. A guy that mad could do a lot of bad things to society. Things that wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t done what you did. The guy has said he will now do what you didn’t want him to do on purpose. He is also likely to try and catch the next person who does it. Responding in a jerkish manner to someone you perceive as a jerk only escalates matters. If you are seriously the type of person who does that sort of thing, well, I can’t say it, because, apparently, it will just make you laugh and turn you into a worse jerk. ---

That means you could teach them that the whole notewriting thing is a much worse faux pas than anything you did. Because, as I pointed out, they exist to intentionally make people mad. Well, I guess they could just indicate somebody who lacks the social skills to discuss things properly. It gives me hope that these type of people may eventually learn that niceness kills. ---
