Blue - Keeps Changing - Conservative (Tory)
Yellow - Winged Bird - Liberal Democrats
Green - ? - Green Party (Environmentalists)
Other Scottish parties include
Scottish Nationalists - yellow with a black Saltire-ish loop
Scottish Socialists - yellow & red with a yellow star
Solidarity (demagogue Tommy Sheridan’s splinter group from the Scottish Socialists) - green & red. But their placards are blue and white.
And, voting this morning, as a mark of heightened security against vote rigging, etc. instead of taking my polling card, checking it off the register, and saying “Mr. xxxx, right?” they actually asked me my name before reading it themselves off the card I gave them which had it printed on!
I must admit, if I lived in Britain, I couldn’t really vote for anyone at all. Most every party seems downright awful to me, a coalition of statists and power-mongers trying desperately to lock up every last human being in the British Isles.
You do know we have a much lower incarceration rate than the US, don’t you?
Apart from that, I largely concur with your post.
Only because the jails are full and they keep releasing people on bail who commit more crimes.

I have a postal vote so I voted last week. Now I suppose some NuLab-loving postie is busy tearing it up and eating the evidence.
To match the per capita incarceration rate of our transatlantic bretheren, we’d have to increase our jail capacity by 400%. Not even a throw-away-the-key Tory would want to fund that one.
