I ordered a new cat bed. Its a big old kidney shaped thing with high but squishy walls. Well padded on the bottom. Very nice fabric. Holds exactly 2 Siamese cats. I took the old beds off the dryer and put on the new one. I tossed the old beds under the table/counter. Guess where my dryer- loving denizens are sleeping? Yep, under the table in the old beds. I turned the dryer on, which they love, to see what happens. I will go check in a while, I hope there not setting up booby traps! ---

My business manager is paid a salary _plus_ a bonus based on the business’s profit compared to the previous year (or something). It has generally worked well, giving her an incentive to increase profits. She recently approached me with an idea to increase profits that would require me to work more hours. She thought I’d be cool with that, because I currently put in just 5 or so hours five days a week. But I don’t want to. I’m happy as things are. I’m lazy, whatever. So now she is angry. The thing is, I don’t give a fuck, which makes her even more angry. ---

I have a new volunteer activity. I am going to help a county library get their card catalogue updated on computer. It’s small outfit, but part of a larger library org. Who knew there were so many books I want to read? I stated a little list to go back to later. I am far, far from being out of the ‘A-s’ and I have already got 20 books written down. This activity may not work out for me. ETA, they have 2 library cats. They love me already! ---

The books, the books… I’ll be dead before I can read all the books I am gonna have on my list. I am just gonna have to adjust my criteria it seems. No, really it looks like a fun activity. It suits me to be in a corner typing away on a keyboard. As long as patrons don’t decide to ask me questions about books. The cats are so sweet, they are a youngish pair of sibs someone put in the night book drop. The local vet is caring for them for free. It is gonna be a good thing for the library to have them. Of course, I love them. ---

I stated a little list to go back to later… Just like it’s nice when a server can answer questions about each dish the restaurant serves, I’d love a librarian to be able to give an opinion on any book I’m thinking about checking out… …oh, maybe like a sommelier: “Ooh, a bit spicy for my palate, with fruity overtones, but just the right amount of salt and a smooth finish.” ---

Are library cats more knowledgeable and intellectual than the ordinary kind? I picture each of them with a pair of spectacles, curled up with a good book like “The Cat in the Hat”. Still, as a dog person, I think it would be much nicer to have a library dog. I know that my dog really loved books, especially when he was a puppy. He was always sneaking books from desktops and shelves, though mainly what he did with the books was try to eat them, which I presume library cats do not do. OTOH, the downside is that they are, in fact, cats, which means they hate you and would kill you if you were smaller. ---

Prefer dogs for that whole “affection” thing they do, but I’m not sure a Library Dog would work. I’ve known some wonderful Bookstore Cats (shout out to Ngaio in Lawrence, KS!). Instead of jumping up on patrons and trying to get petted, cats can just lay there and lazily stare at you while you shop. Much less intrusive. ---

These two are sweet. They get lots of strokes and oohs and ahhs. And treats. If you ask the librarian she will give you a treat to give them. No matter where they are when they hear that bag coming out of a drawer, they come running. I have left today. I will get pics when I go back Tuesday. As for answering book questions, digs, I am not qualified to do that. I assume most Librarians have a degree and answer questions or at least where to get answers. ---

All he did was lie around and wait for pettin’s. Laziest dog I’ve ever seen. ---

Tell her if she thinks a few extra hours will help, she’s welcome to work them herself. ---
