Nobody accosts you on the street except maybe to say something snide or give you a sneer. It’s at the game that you need worry about that, and there is where Philadelphia has a well-documented history of hooliganism. Isn’t there an NFL rule, though, that Eagles fans aren’t allowed to complain about the behavior of any other team’s fans at any time? My proposal for sports championship smack talk: The Relevant Championship rule. Instead of talking about the number of championships your team has, for smack talk you may only refer to the number of Relevant Championship. An RC is one that was won by your team which included at least two members of your current roster. So rather than pulling out the stupidest-sounding word in sports history, “Sixburgh”, Steelers fans get to brag about their two RC’s. But they’re still behind the Patriots with their three RC’s. The Giants have the only RC in the NFC East. Unless someone can point out a Buccaneer other than Ronde Barber who was there in 2002, then Tampa Bay fans can forget about bragging about RCs. Bragging on what your team did 20-odd years ago is just sad…following the RC rule eliminates this. It won’t help the Eagles not suck, though. ---
