Fuck POP-UPS!

The source of my joke was less your opposition to religion and more about your intransigence in threads about God and religion.

Or you could hie yourself over to ZDnet and download “Pop Up Killer”. I have only had it a couple of days, but it seems to be working fairly well, and makes a cool noise when it kills an ad.

or there’s Killad (now apparently called Mr. Killad, which is freeware; I have a previous version of this that works very well indeed.

I have been using PopUp Killer (link is in an earlier post) for several months now, and I love it! It is a great program that can remember what are popups that you don’t want and can also be told to ignore certain popups. Just put it in Safe Mode so it will ask you about new popups if you think you might want to see some.

Damn! I should have realized that people would develop pop-up blockers, but it never occured to me. I’ve been cussing the damn pop-ups on certain sites for months. I’ll definitely give PopUp Killer or Killad a try! Thanks.

This is the greatest site I have ever found to stop pop-ups.

Not that I would ever surf porn sites, but when I happen upon some naughty sites, I just double click this puppy and no more pop-ups. Plus, it shows when you are stopping those damn poppers.

It sits in the toolbar quietly until you, ahem, need it. It’s the greatest thing since, well, porn frankly.

PopUp Killer does those things too, and it flashes its tray icon when it kills popups. I love it because you can start off with a list of known popups and add your own to their online database. It is the greatest program, and it completely free! If you need somthing to get rid of popups, this is the program for you!

Yeah, just throw that away. Yup, just right in the trash there. No, don’t read the envelope. You didn’t win, it’s just a gimmick. Right in the trash with the other junk mail… excellent.

[sup]Hehe, suckers! More money for me.[/sup]

Do these popup killers only kill pop up ads? Because one time, I was surfing a porn site [sub]research purposes only, cough[/sub] and the thing took over my browser, in addition to popups, it added bookmarks and changed my homepage. Very scary when my roomate started up the browser and was greeted with some nasty porn.
From then on, if I’m anywhere near a porn site [sub]you know, for research[/sub] I put active scripting on a prompt level, instead of enabled. I can put my favorite sites in a “trusted” list and scripts will run fine only at those sites.

Pop-up killers normally only kill pop-ups (the one I have, POW!, works by automatically closing any window with a particular text string in the IE title bar).

I’m sure there are settings in most browsers for disabling the scripts that change bookmarks and so on. I avoid all of that by using some of the Internet Security options supplied with Norton – if anything attempts to change my bookmarks or homepage, it pops-up a warning and allows me to kill the browser.

yes, there is no gray. only black and white.

Cheesesteak:

Sites that change your start page and Favorites usually use the security vulnerability described at

This page also has information on patching that hole.

Hey, why don’t you guys start your own damned thread? We’re trying to talk about toaster pastries, here!
