Fuck the fucking power outage. Fuck!

My guess is you’d just end up paying a bunch of reconnection fees after trying to go a month without power…

I have internet at work.

Power came on last night around 915 though.

I was outraged in this vein for about 15 minutes, feeling like a second-class citizen, until I realized it’s much more important for them to restore power to larger numbers of people first–meaning that the people-dense streets of Chicago were the first priority. As I live in Woodridge, we only had 74 people without power in the area, compared to *hundreds of thousands *in the city itself. Yes, it sucks and is monumentally depressing to go three or four days without power when others had theirs restored the same day of the outage. But given a choice between having my power put back on, and having it put back on in a densely populated area, I can wait a little longer.

We also, not being electricians or employees of Com-Ed, have no idea how the lines were structured. It’s quite possible that they had to fix lines further up the food chain, first.

You wouldn’t likely see any crews in your area until Friday. I saw several yesterday afternoon in my area, the same day power was restored. Also, they bumped up the original ETA on getting my power back by 26 hours–check and see if yours hasn’t been bumped up, too. That’s pretty good work.

I object. This reasonableness and lack of outrage is totally inappropriate for the Pit.
