It’d be possible to put a governor in every car that would limit it to a top speed of, say, 60 MPH. It makes the speed limits harder to change. It doesn’t account for situations where speeding is reasonable or even necessary, even though it’s illegal. I knew opening this thread was a mistake. The French reference was a general reference to the industry as a whole. The rage was caused after reading of some of the families facing bankruptcy because the teenager was amassing brittany Spears and Backstreet Boys songs. (This, I swear, was the “art” being fought over) Also, the French reference was more political than anything, I know better than to involve politics on SDMB’s when my own OP didn’t concern that. Mr2001, that was one of the wittiest replies I’ve seen in a long time. However, with the governor, it was take about 6 nanoseconds for a product to hit the market that bypasses it. Now, for the love of all that is Holy, please shut down the thread ---

For example, you can legally tape “The Simpsons” and watch it later, but if you forget to tape it, you can’t download it; you have to wait for the DVD.
