# Fuck these webcam interviews that don't include audio, and do include writing!

A few months ago, I started a thread about a webcam interview that required me to have the phone in front of my face.

Today, it happened again. I’ve got a webcam on my laptop; I’ve got a microphone on my laptop; I’ve got a speaker on my laptop. Why in the fuck do you require me to dial in and hold my fucking phone in front of my face?

And then, after the interview, have me take a written test that requires me to continue to be on webcam? A written test in Microsoft Office that requires you to watch me studying the parms, and watch me type and mutter? You allow me a half hour to write a PL/SQL function, a PL/SQL procedure, and study and modify a (relevant 300 lines) COBOL unit? And to study the schema, and understand the requirements?

Fuck this; I’m going back to retail.

I’d assume they want to make sure that the same person who takes the test is the person they were talking with, that there’s no switcharoo goes on under their noses.

Most businesses use exactly enough technology to scrape by. Sometimes less. Never more.

Have you considered a earpiece for your telephone? You can get them for landline or cell including bluetooth for cellular. You could also use a internet telephone service such as Skype and use simular equipment. It may make you more confident on the interview and look more professional.
