I just don’t understand how the sort of immature, bullying behaviour shown by Don jr in the above example, and almost constantly by Trump & co, didn’t turn off a lot more voters. Everything they did showed a total absence of substance, a plethora of bullshit sound-good promises, delivered via childish name-calling etc. ---

Agree in general, but I’d say on Ukraine specifically, the only people who can give MAGA a lesson in gaslighting are the Kremlin. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met people here in England but also around Europe (I travel a lot) who plainly know little to nothing about geopolitics, but have somehow heard and believed Russian talking points. Today for example I was getting a haircut, and the hairdresser (who had started by saying he had no interest in politics) was lecturing me on how most of the soldiers fighting are American; and they just put on Ukraine uniforms. Because yeah that’s a risk-reward that makes perfect sense. I hear these things all the time. Anyway, all this to say that I think MAGA can get away with saying anything about Zelensky at this point. People who are pro-Ukraine are somewhat weary at this point. And the rest have probably been sucked in by the propaganda. ---
