I just watched the season finale to John Oliver’s _Last Week Tonight_ on HBO, which ended with a “Fuck You, 2016” montage of various people saying what was wrong with 2016, then saying “Fuck you 2016!”. I lost two close relatives and seven close friends this year, after a multiyear struggle to get a raise I finally got one this week-25 fucking cents an hour, I had an on the job injury that left me with constant pain and restricted movement in my left shoulder, beloved celebrities dropped dead left and right…and not a fucking one of them were on my SDMB Deathpool List, both of my cats died, and because of this fucking election “Did you know that half of all Americans are below average in intelligence” is no longer funny(and neither is the movie “Idiocracy”-I just threw my copy in the trash.) Fuck you, 2016. ---

I totally agree with **Czarcasm**. This has been a monstrously horrible year, and it isn’t over yet. I can’t even say I lost any friends this year, because i don’t have any left to lose. I thought of a small silver lining last night, but damned if I can remember what the hell it was. ---

Czarcasm, I’m so sorry, that sounds terrible. All I can offer is to just keep on keepin’ on, to borrow a 70’s catchphrase I guess. I can’t say as I’ve ever had any year that was especially good, but 2016 was not unusually horrible for me. Just the usual crap. But yeah, the Oompah Loompah in the White House sorta tips it into a year I’d rather forget. ---

Yeah, I have to bump this. There’s data to back up that this was a horrible year. [Yesterday the CDC announced this was the first time since 1993 that life expectancy went _down_.](http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/08/health/life-expectancy-us-declines.html?_r=0) And in addition, yesterday my best friend in elementary and middle school died unexpectedly at the age of 33. Fuck you 2016. Where you trying to live up to the legacy of 1916 but didn’t have a world war to work with? ---

I assume the people on Czarcasm’s SDMB Deathpool List also had close friends and relatives, just as he does. Presumably those people are happy that their close friend/relatives are still alive, even if that disappoints Czarcasm.
