Alright, I hit a nerve. Sorry. I don’t literally think that you’re not a “real man” if you wear open-toed shoes. I just think that men’s hairy feet are disgusting. I’ve been a sucker for fashion before. In 6th grade I wore Jnco jeans. In 8th grade I had blonde highlights. As a freshman and sophomore I wore nothing but Abercrombie. Then as something started to happen to me known as “maturity,” I actually developed my own tastes. My own musical tastes. My own literary tastes. My own opinions about the world. And my own sense of style. Therefore it frustrates me to see people following the herd and having this uniform-fashion mentality. It’s not just North Face, it’s the ugly Ugg boots and the pink shirts and the skintight 80s t-shirts on the “indie” people and everything else that people wear. I just wish people would try to have their own sense of style, it speaks volumes about your independence and your creativity to do so. ---

Yawn. Yet another example of what is probably the lamest fucking pit subject ever to exist. “Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!! I don’t like people who wear the same stuff as other people!!” Couple points and/or questions: 1. Define “trendy”. I was selling this shit (when I couldn’t convince them Marmot is better) since 1994. Their sales have steadily increased since, and the company has changed hands twice. It may be trendy, but it has unbelievable staying power. Much more than OP, Members Only, Izod, Glacier Glasses and the like. 2. Look, I’m sorry I was so harsh. If I owned a North Face jacket I’d probably like it. In fact, it sounds great, functionally. But if you were here on this campus you’d know what I mean about the uniform element of it. Most of the girls with North Face jackets also seem to have the same long, straightened hair, and the same tan, and (when it was colder,) the same Ugg boots. It’s just a uniform for the sorority set. That’s the part of it that annoys me. The jacket itself is fine I guess. ---

Without actually reading the thread yet… [I have a red Mountain Jacket](http://pw1.netcom.com/~heliboy/kayaking-jan-2004.html). I also have a blue one, too. Just the thing to keep somewhat dry when I’m in the wet. And it gets plenty wet up here in the PNW. I also have a yellow-and-black Steep Tech jacket I wore when skiing. (Recently discovered it in a footlocker. I can’t ski though, since unemployed people don’t get health insurance.) But I should get a pass. I bought my jackets years ago, before they started showing up everywhere. 😛 ---
