I’ve no idea what the OP does, but what if HR intentionally missed that meeting to see how the OP would react? Maybe he’ll be high enough up there, if he gets the promotion, that there will be quite a number of regular meetings, some of which other team/dept heads may occasionally miss? (HR? Headgames? Nooooooo…) 😉 PS- I approve of the OP being at the meeting on time, giving it 15 minutes, and then back-tracking the missing person to their desk. Beyond that though, its smile, laugh, and put 20 extra pounds on the bench press after work as you blow off steam & let it go. (Q: Its a good job with a good company, right?) ---

So, in conclusion, this dimwit HR woman spaced on the meeting, and then lied about the reason she missed it, because she’s too fucking stupid to realize I am responsible for the technology upon which she hung her pathetic lie. ---

According to my boss, this particular HR rep has a reputation for being incompetent, so the chances that we’ll be firing her at some point approaches 100%. I could probably pull some strings and handle her termination myself. ETA: I haven’t gotten the promotion yet. ---

I once had Outlook all of a sudden pop up 30 minutes after a meeting had started to tell me that I was late for it. Exchange is a shitty, bug-ridden system. It’s entirely possible that she is in fact telling the truth. ---

If she’s dimwitted it’s possible she didn’t lie. It is possible to set specific reminders for a meeting and she may have done so without realizing. That said - even with reminders the FIRST thing you do every morning should be look over your schedule so you’re prepared for each meeting. PS, typing this is making me late for my next one but I’m typically the only person on time for it so today is my turn 🙂 ---
