Thats what happens when you get a prima donna to sing your anthem. Why not do like other countries and let the crowd sing?? It sounds a lot better to have a stadium full of patriots sing than someone out there doing for selfish reasons. I find the American national anthem is usually over-performed by the person chosen. It looks ridiculous to have someone like that who tries to feign passion, but doesn’t really give a s#!t. ---

The crowd does sing if the singer isn’t going off on ridiculous tangents. Check out the Whitney Houston version linked upthread. (The best rendition by far in IMO.) ---

Assuming you’re right, who the fuck cares? We’re talking about styles of singing, not whether the songs were sung live. Aquilera’s crapfest would have sounded just as bad recorded in a studio, even with the right words. ---

If you don’t fucking care then why did you fucking bring it the fuck up in the first fucking place? And befuckingsides, the fucking studio wouldn’t have fucking helped because it was her stupid fucking melisma that fucked up the fucking song, and that fucking shit would have fucking remained in the fucking recorded fucking version any fucking way, you fucking fucker. Whitney Houston had the best ever anthem at a super bowl. Sadly her future crack whore status ruins it all, but if you want to know what the anthem should be sung like you have to check out that performance. ---
