But I’m certainly not going to pry into anyone’s private life to insure they aren’t doing things I disagree with. Someone’s private life is nobody else’s business only as long as they keep it private. As for point #2…well, no argument here. I’ve struggled with misogyny ever since I’ve figured out that’s what it was. (Sometime I didn’t fight it too hard, either.) My personal feelings come from being raised by an overly restrictive, smothering mother, who I unfairly project onto other women. But I have been and continue to be convinced that in some aspects our society has become unfairly slanted towards one sex, and it isn’t men. I don’t think merely feeling this way is misogyny. ---

**Oldscratch** , this is a side of your nature I had not witnessed so much before now. What a pleasant surprise. You have largely summed up my own feelings about such epithets. I eschew them out of self respect for the equality that I do my best to bring to this world. However much I detest politically correct thinking and its love of “sanitizing” speech, in this case I’ll willingly make an exception. Hateful words are merely a reflection of hateful thoughts. It is rare to find someone who uses these terms without also adhering to the doctrine of prejudice intrinsic to them. I suppose I need to get around these boards a bit more as I really haven’t seen these insults bandied about so much and rarely if ever even open threads containing such vocabulary. My curiosity was piqued by seeing your name attached to this thread title and I decided to drop in. It is somewhat of a relief to see a nearly unanimous attitude about this subject. However, it is also what I would expect of a place devoted to knowledge and enlightenment. **Spiritus** ’ comments are in order (as usual) but I do not sense any dispute at large from most of the posters here and I applaud this fact. ---
