I found it telling that he chose that as a comparison, because I think it was part of a deliberate pattern to attempt to highlight differences between him/his treatment and other identifiable segments of the population. My problem isn’t his assumption that only women knit on planes (probably false though it is), it was his deliberate use of a stereotypical “female” activity. Had he described it as people knitting, on the other hand, though the analogy would still have been far from perfect, it would not have carried the typical **VCO3** “look at me, I’m different to these people, aren’t they strange and odd” smell as far as I am concerned. ---

Okay, **VCO3** , serious question: If you truly believed it would be okay to bring this on the plane, and you were going to do it no matter what, seriously, why did you even ask the question in the first place?
