Yeah, but it’s the Federal government that’s investigating Hassan as a terrorist, even though the FBI says “[he] was not involved in terrorist activities or terrorist planning.” ---

I’m arguing against the OP title- that there was a terrorist attack in 2002. IMO, there was no effort to effect political change. That goes for the Muhammad, Hadayet, and Hassan. None of those were terror attacks. And in my armchair lawyer opinion, that’s true from a legal perspective as well. ---

Well, the discussion seems to have devolved into head-of-a-pin stuff. Was Major Knucklehead’s motives derived from our involvement in Muslim lands? Of course. (The Soldier of Allah designator on his personal business cards revealed yesterday, yet another indicator). Did he think, in his private brand of madness, that his actions might serve to dissuade the US into continued involvement? Who knows… but it’s not a very far reach to say that he thought they would. And that completes the three-legged stool pointed out by MilTan as required for ‘terror’ attacks. I would suspect that most people who commit “terror” attacks like that do in fact think that their actions will have some kind of an affect on government policy. I don’t think that hatred is enough, by itself, to get Palestinians to strap bombs to their kids, etc. ---
