You’ve got no bitch when the network cuts off your favorite game early so they can pick up a few more bucks in advertising by running a game with a potential for a bigger audience and therefore more expensive advertising time. The whole sports scene from peewee baseball up is a commercial enterprise. My only bitch at rich team owners is with those who con average people into paying for a stadium in which the owner can get richer. I am contemptuous of them and their methods. If you think that applies to you, so be it. ---

It boggles my mind that you’d still be upset about it a year later to the point of putting the word people in quote marks because you doubt the basic humanity of those who dare laugh at your puzzling outrage. [/QUOTE] Well, according to this logic, the networks would lose a huge amount of revenue for not cutting away to the kickoff of the late game. But think about this. You have fans of Team Y tuning in for their game. Fans of Team X are still watching the early game. Fans of Team Y will keep the station on knowing their game is on soon. Fans of Team X are watching the rest of the early game, AND fans of Team Y are watching it. You get, in essence, 4 markets of advertising instead of 2 for one game. Also, the fans of the early game are likely going to keep watching the late game, at least for a bit. This theory is directly related to why _60 Minutes_ suffered in the ratings when CBS lost the NFL package. Unless missing the first few minutes of the “dominant” game is enough to turn off enough viewers to make the late game unprofitable. In which case I suspect the ad revenue is a moot point to begin with. ---

Even though I agree with **Duffer** on the ass-ness of the 4:15 rule, the truth is that the majority of the regional fans would rather watch Vikings pre-game than stick with the end of the early game, even when it’s a good, divisional game. It’s not Heidi, but as an NFL fan, it kind of sucks…as a Packers fan, it really blows. As a DirecTV Sunday Ticket guy, this hasn’t happened to me in a while. The ticket is the fucking best! Oh, David Simmons? Why don’t you go start a thread about why you don’t understand why people like sports. But I manage to avoid throwing myself on the floor in a fit if a program is cut short or preempted by something else on occasion. Yup, a lot of newscasters are also spoiled brats, but I have a need to keep up with the news. I don’t really need to watch sports. As to movies, the last one I went to was _The Thin Red Line._ There are, believe it or not, other things to do besides watching TV or going to movies. I even read a book on occasion alothough reading is getting harder and harder. ---
