Aaaand…once again, the thread goes political and loses all interest for non-United Statesians. Maybe we could get a forum that is all politics, all the time, and keep them out of the interesting threads. Sort of like limiting witnessing to Great Debates. ---

You’re concerned that a thread about Doonesbury is “going political?” As a plethora of other posters pointed out, Doonesbury is political humor. Its entire history is one of using humor to make political points, and using political points to create humor. And you’re bitching about that? Perhaps you confused it with a Marmaduke thread. You couldn’t do any better than that? Although looking at this and your posting history, I don’t find this much of a surprise. Here’s what I’d actually like to see. I’d like you to do a bit of research into the use of hyperbole in political humor. You could start with Gullivers’ Travels, work your way through I Go Pogo, and end with pretty much any cartoon on the Op-Ed page of your local paper. Then, I’d like you to watch the complete Monty Python collection, because you seriously need to build up that sense of humor muscle. It appears to have atrophied. Along with other, more cognitive “muscles” of yours. ---
