Mainly I just remember his schtick from when he was on Oprah, before he had his own show. the couple of times I’ve watched a few minutes of his actual show since them have confirmed that he is, for me, unwatchably rage-producing. ---

I’ve only watched the show a handful of times but one time he did tell someone who was resisting his sage wisdom that he had “more degrees than a thermometer”. That was obnoxious. And IIRC he’s not even actually a doctor. ---

Okay, I googled it and apparently Dr. Phil is a real doctor. But he can still be quite obnoxious. Even Oprah obliquely is like “fuck this guy” and she can be quite obnoxious herself. ---

See, this is what bewilders me. Maybe I am just using the message boards with a different intent, but…I generally try to avoid directly insulting/offending people online. What if I want to convince them of something later, in a different thread? What if i want to avoid their crazy self stalking me? I mean, if you want to abuse people, comment on Youtube. It’s already a giant cesspool, and nobody convinces anybody of anything there, and the discussions are generally at the level of “I banged your mom”. You can’t get any value from those discussions, usually, so there’s nothing lost if you just randomly insult people. However, I have to encounter some of you who venture out of the Pit in OTHER threads, some of which aren’t about accusing **BPC** of bestiality, etc.. It’s not that I can’t put aside the insults that I get in this thread but…say, for instance, I couldn’t. That’s going to poison our ability to discuss things rationally and calmly in threads that are worth NOT poisoning.
