Hey, mabye he has another sweetheart in middle school, yet another one in elementary school, and perhaps he’s hoping to have even another sweetheart who’s in college. One must differentiate one’s sweethearts somehow; thus, “high school sweetheart” for the one discussed in this particular thread. ---

Yeah, if that’s the timeline, you’re right. Unless he’s using “high school sweetheart” to mean his sweetheart who’s in high school (which, AFAIK, nobody has, ever) he’s lying somewhere. ---
