Incidentally, in another story, the NYTimes has not a fucking peep about the Cheney shooting story. What is it with this totalitarian media? **Kid Charlemagne** , I wonder what you see as the difference between the two in today’s NYT. I’d agree that the Nigerian riots are a more important story. I’ve been hearing about Muslims rioting and killing each other over cartoons in the mainstream media for a week now. What the fuck is the OP on about? It’s been front page news. I mean, the hell with search engines. It’s been headline stuff on CNN. Big articles in all the local dailies. You’d have to be retarded to have missed it. ---

However, it being one more event in the generalized agitator-driven Muslim-world freakout, I can see how it probably got lost in the clutter for many readers. Yet complaining that _on today’s paper_ it’s not being given equal prominence with events happening _today_ elicits the “yes, so?” reaction. Unless you can demonstrate that indeed there truly was “not a peep” about the anti-Christian rioting in the NYT, LAT, WP, AP or CNN for the _prior_ 4 days, you may be witnessing “sampling bias” of the man-bites-dog nature, wherein the counter-backlash is what makes the news. ---

The Nigeria story, as others have pointed out, is from Saturday, and is a relatively small example of the violence that has swept various parts of the world over the past week or so. My hard-copy edition of the Sunday _New York Times_ had an article talking about the Nigerian violence, and that article is still available [on the web](http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/19/international/europe/19cartoon.html).
