It’s possible, as mentioned earlier, that the dog got a hold of a poisoned mouse/rat. They’ll often escape to the outdoors after they’ve been poisoned, making an easy target for the preditorial stripe left in the domesticated animal. ---

Sorry for not posting for two days, but I was preoccupied with the theatre. The vet lab technician found out that the poison used to soak the cake was homemade and coudn’t determine specifically what it was. So they advised my mom to take the sample to the police which she did. We’ve also found out that another dog was poisoned two weeks ago and after my mom talked to its owner, he also agreed to go to the police. Now with two recent cases, together with few from previous years, we hope that the police will take some action. ---

**Torgo,** I haven’t any good advice, but much sympathy for the death of your dog. Dogs (the vast majority) are wonderful animals. I love them for their loyalty, friendship, and their simple goofiness. I am sorry you lost Ajka in such a horrible way. ---

My condolences to you for losing your dog. I only lose my pets to very advanced old age, and that is hard enough. Now to those who think it is OK to leave strychnine etc. out in order to kill animals that are not a threat or are not bothering your livestock - Poisons are generally a sadistic and lingering way to kill something. Also, the animals you do not have “issues” with are just as likely to get into the poisons and die, as the evil scary nasty demonic dogs and cats are. It sounds like some of you just get off on killing things. I hope the ASPCA and animal control cops find out and out you away for a long time.
