He’s a great guy and hard working, but being short a fifth of the rent with a promise I have to chase down in a week is truly disappointing. I’d rather have another maintenance drunk/pothead than a weekly binge drinker. My non-drinker, non-pothead renter is just fine. ---

I don’t know any conservatives who would call the cops on nearby weed smoking. Maybe noise complaints, but not weed. ---

Well, maybe OP can get the two-fer when he calls the Federalis. Maybe they can have Colin Farrell turn states’ evidence by offering him a plea deal on the rape charge and he can set up an elaborate sting by going undercover as a down on his luck Irish boxer looking for a place to crash and a bowl to toke in return for teaching the boys downstairs how to throw a right cross and make the ladies swoon with a nice Brogue. ---

Eh, I don’t know. If pot smell was coming into my apartment, I’d probably be miffed. But I would just talk to my neighbor and see if we could come up with a solution. I did once live in an apartment where a bunch of partying assholes moved in upstairs directly above me. It was terrible, and the landlord had a lot of trouble evicting them (and the landlord really wanted them out). I kept records of all the disturbances, so that the landlord had evidence when he went to court. But before it got to that point, I did try several times to talk to them politely. They were assholes. But the OP should at least try talking to his neighbor before calling the police (who probably aren’t going to do anything about it anyway). ---
