My brain was not working. I hereby offer an apology for what I said (Because it was stupid, and y’all had to read it, wasting at least 30 secs of your time) All I can really say is that I DON’T like Bush, and like most people in the US, I had an extremely bad night. By the time I finally went to bed, I had a nightmare that Dubya was trying to kill me. On top of that, I’m sick. All that is a lethal combination and my brain is foggy. I didn’t mean you shouldn’t vote for what you believe in, but I do believe that voting for Nader WAS throwing your vote away. And I do believe that Bush is one of the stupidest people to ever walk the face of the Earth. I’m not a bleeding heart liberal, and I’m not a strict conservative, I fall right in the middle. And for the most part, I tend to be a conservative person. But I honestly do not believe that Bush will lead this country forward. I just do not think he is smart enough, or has had enough time in politics. When I watch him, and listen to him, I feel like _I_ could do a better job as President, right now. Who knows how far ahead of him I’ll be by the time I’m his age. And that’s frightening to me. ---

Since pepperlandgal has retracted her statement, I’ll say it. This was NOT a time for “voting what you beleive in.” This was a time for voting AGAINST what you disagree with the most. If Hitler were running against Pat Buchanan, and ONLY one of those two had a legitimate opportunity to win, I would hope and pray that nobody would waste a vote on Nader. The vote, in this case, should be given to Buchanan, a repulsive person by my own PERSONAL standards, if the voting public overwhelmingly wanted one of the two, I would be as guilty as the Hitler voters if I had voted for Nader, and Hitler won. I will stand by that. ---

I couldn’t resist, because you would call me a “whiny democrat.” You know what? If Bush won the state of Florida, he WON this election, constitutionally and rightfully. HE WON. I’m not complaining about that. I’m complaining about the fact that a vote for Nader was, quite simply, a vote for Bush. My example was a poor one. Perhaps It would have been better if I had said Gorbechev and Hitler, as they are on opposite sides of the aisle. Ralph Nader lost the liberals this election. Simple as that. And before you bring it up, Ross Perot lost the election for the Conservatives in 92. I’m aware of that. But that’s not what this thread is about. ---

I’m not going to stick my thumb in my nose at all the people belly-aching about Gore. I do, however, appreciate those (Falcon, Jack Batty off of the top of my head) who are able to be rational about the whole thing. Hell, I “threw away my vote” (And to all those who seriously think that I did throw it away, I invite you to come over and lick the corn dingleberries off of my dog’s ass) on Harry Browne. I like dubya slightly more than Gore, but I wasn’t thrilled with either choice. And please, for all you “I’m moving to Canada” types, get the fuck out. Immediately. God forbid you should stick around and actually try to change anything that you feel strongly about. ---

In response to the “a vote for Nader was a vote for Bush” theory. You might be right but when I go to the polls, I’m not planning a strategy as if I am playing a game of chess. I go to the polls informed of the issues and vote for who I want. I do not vote for whoever the majority of people say to and I certainly do not vote for the lesser of two evils. As they say no matter how you vote when you vote for the lesser of two evils, you still end up with evil. I live in Florida and voted for Nader. I do not regret my vote in the least. He didn’t get his 5% but at least I voted how I wanted and didn’t settle so people like flymaster would be happy If it weren’t for people like me who voted for an alternative candidate nothing would ever change. Just because we don’t win, does that mean we should never try? ---
