Take my fucking hanky and **SHUT THE FUCK UP**. We got **MODERATORS** already, so you don’t need to open your bitch ass piehole to let anybody know what a tattling fucking cocksucker you are already. If the thread is in the wrong place, **the moderator will most likely move it whether you post a whiny message or not**. Don’t wanna clutter up a thread with reudundant messages? **Then quit posting messages that say nothing other than that a previous message is redundant**.

IMHO, people who say this are trying to help mods and eachother for future similar threads. I don’t see this as anything more than helpful advice meant to be taken as such.

Again, trying to point people to resources perhaps they didn’t know existed. Again, IMHO, trying to be helpful. Also can get a bit annoying to see the 5th “Are you under 21? I am!” thread in MPSIMS.

Meant to be helpful, IMHO. For instance, I once read a thread started by PB asking who was in or near DC b/c a friend of PB’s needed some help. Had I read the entire thread instead of the OP, I would have known that the problem had been fixed and my post count would be two less.

Could you explain how, exactly, this is tattling? I don’t think trying to be helpful to fellow dopers isn’t tattling so much as it’s just that: trying to be helpful.

Yes, but the owner of the OP might not realize why it was moved. Generally someone who says “This belongs in X forum” will say so. If they don’t, I think usually it’s because it is very obvious, such as “What is your favorite X” or “Gore is an incompetent pantywaste”.

To let others know not to do it, basically. Which hopefully ends it for a while.

A: Learn how to read the forum descriptions.
B: Learn how to use the Search feature.
C: Learn how to be patient.
Using these lessons, you should be able to avoid posting to the wrong forum, find an answer to a question without having to ask it again, and you’ll find that if a thread has 300 or 400 responses, your contribution has probably been brought up five or six times already.
In case you haven’t noticed, people dislike repeating themselves, especially to some jackass who thinks he’s such hot shit.

People who do it accusingly are annoying assholes. But the majority I’ve seen do it fairly polietly. A gentle suggestion can give the poster a bit of a chance to “save face”. Just basically if the Mod is forced to just move the post, some people will just get pissed off, others will just get embarrassesd. But if someone mentions that it is in the wrong thread, then the OP has a chance to realize his error and request the move himself.

Actually, JohnJohn’s wail was “WAAAAAAA”, I believe. No H. With the H, I think it is generally used to mean “quit whining”.
And those posts should have been in ATMB except for the fact that La King was testing whether or not he could post a reply to _this_ thread, which is rather difficult to do in ATMB.
