**PlasticVirgil** - no, these ladybugs are pains in the butt. The first couple are cute, then you realize they’ve landed in your hair, are all over the side of your house, have come inside to drive the cats nuts (and they’re apparently not edible - they make the cats puke in neon yellow, which is just LOVELY on my beige carpeting!) and they BITE! As **Marley23** said, they don’t bite hard, but they do leave tiny little raised spots that itch for an hour or so. Worse, they seem to have crowded out the “real” ladybugs - I haven’t seen a pretty bright red ladybug in the last two years. (These are kind of a Crayola “bittersweet” color.) I know all about your slugs, though, having once stepped on one in my bare feet (UGH!) and on the whole I’d rather have annoying ladybugs. ---

They are pesky, and THEY BITE. Fuckers. We’re stuck with them too. Apparently they migrated to Minnesota - they were released in some parts of the US, and accidentally released in others. Right now, they’re crawling around trying to find a warm place to be. All we need is A GOOD FROST. They were PILED up at our back door, crawling into a small crack near the bottom of the screen door. We also dustbusted a handful of them… and caught a few live ones in the house. Some people have had to call exterminators… UGH! THEY MUST ALL DIE! DIIIIIIIE! :mad: ---

I’m with LifeOnWry-where the hell are the REAL ladybugs? Those nice bright red ones? I used to get a big kick out of finding one of them when I was a little kid. Every once in a while, you’d find one of these yellow orange bastards, and I remember thinking there were ladybugs that weren’t ripe yet. Now the sonsabitches are fucking everywhere. And the real ladybugs are gone. I’ve not seen one in forever. ---

I was just visiting some family in Wisconsin last weekend, and holy crap those fuckers are everywhere! My step-father’s sister lives on a farm, and they hate them. They’re _supposed_ to eat the aphids, but they really don’t. They don’t do much harm, unless you’re growing fruit, which they feast on. Luckily, there’s not much other than apples in Wisconsin, and those aren’t in too much danger, apparently. ---

Anyways…I’ve been molested by them for too long now. They’ve found ways to get into my home and after a thorough floor, wall, and ceiling vacuuming, they’re back en masse in 30 minutes. I get an allergic reaction from them and start getting headaches. I can’t wait for the first frost to off 'em (is it ok to wish death on bugs?) ---

I would tolerate them a little better now if they had done anything to dent the aphid population in my garden this summer. Some of my plants were covered with aphids this spring and summer. Where were these little bastards then? We are currently painting our house and these lady beetles are the biggest pain in the ass you can imagine. They bite and they stink. I got one in my mouth while biking and my water was all gone and I though I was going to puke. We (knock on wood) luckily haven’t had many in the house, I would serioulsy be freaking if we did. We must have a pretty well sealed house. ---

Oh good you have them too I just moved back to this town(Wisconsin) and in all the years I had lived here I never even knew they existed much less what a problem they could be…until this year I was going to call my landlady then read in the paper they’re “bugging” everyone around here Misery loves company 😛 ---

When I lived in Erie PA we had these beetles we called japanese beetles. They had shiny green carapaces, and were quite pretty, for bugs. I don’t recall them biting. ---
