Truth be told, though, I stopped reading your post #5 after “Wah wah wah, I’m a limey pussy,” because I assumed the rest would be devoid of any real substance. In any case, I don’t completely equate what the woman’s actions with the OP’s. I think it’s _much_ more rude for a stranger to inject their own comments into a private conversation, than it is for someone to “criticize” a place they’re visiting (especially if the criticism was invited by a party involved in the conversation). OTOH, the OP didn’t have to include the woman in the conversation (i.e., could have tried ignoring her comment, and moving on), so… no sympathy for that part. ---

I read the OP as he or she was having a discussion with American friends in a bar in America and said friends, not the bystander, asked for the OP’s opinion of the good and bad in America.
