So why can’t governors do this? [ol] [li]When protests are being organized, announce that anyone who violates shelter-at-home orders (e.g., by getting out of cars and congregating in public) will be arrested.[/li][li]Take everyone who’s arrested to a common location (e.g. an empty stadium or sports arena) and leave them there to await trial.[/li][li]Make sure they’re kept confined for at least two weeks, to give the virus time to manifest.[/li][li]Release anyone who tests negative after two weeks.[/li][li]Compassionately treat anyone who gets sick.[/li][/ol] Seems like a win-win to me. If very few people in the confined community get sick, it proves they were right – the lockdown was too severe and unnecessary. They should be thrilled to prove themselves right! If on the other hand, a large proportion get sick, at least we’ve removed the possibility of them spreading the disease through their irresponsible behavior. What’s that you’re saying about civil rights? But you broke a law! Just like those people who cross the border illegally or overstay their visas! You get the same rights they get! ---

They should designate one park, one beach, and a handful of restaurants for those who insist on being out! Let them all mix with each other at will. Darwin would approve! 🙂 Some countries in Asia has imposed a proviso if you ignore the warnings and end up warded in a hospital, no (Private or public) insurance coverage, you pay in full for it all. How do the health insurance providers for these boneheads feel about this? I’m surprised they haven’t had anything to say! Care for this can’t be cheap and I’m betting your family is all on the same provider. ---

They really are idiots. Because it occurred to me that most of these yahoos probably don’t live in their state capitals - they are traveling there from rural areas just to be a part of these crowded events. Events that are being held in areas that are more highly populated-and have a much higher infection rate- than the rural counties where they live. Really, all I can say right now is, We’ll see. Let’s just see what happens in two weeks. But an outbreak really wouldn’t have to be THAT large to overwhelm little rural community hospitals. We’ll see. ---
